Kev the Kiwi
I'm Kev the Kiwi, and as you know, I'm unique to New Zealand. I'm a bird but you won't see me in the sky – look for me in the bush. There are not many of us left so be nice!
I have strong legs for ripping apart rotten logs to find food. I also use my legs to dig burrows in the ground to make a home with my girlfriend.
At the very end of my beak are nostrils that helps me sniff out food. I mainly eat worms, spiders, grubs and fruit. Not many birds have a good sense of smell – but I do!
I come from the same family of birds as the ostrich, emu and the extinct moa. I am definitely the smallest bird in the family.
