 Timothy the MotormanG'day I'm Timothy and I drive the trams in the city. The loop that I do through the city is 2.5km and takes about 25 minutes to do a full trip. I love going around the city and seeing all the people. The first trams in Christchurch were around in the late 1800s and were horse drawn. It wasn't until 1905 that the first electric tram was running in Christchurch. The trams used to be a popular way of getting around back then until 1954 when the very last tram stopped running. Imagine what it would be like if you had to take the tram to school instead of the bus! |
